Un individu soupçonné d'être impliqué dans une vaste affaire d'escroquerie portant sur de fausses promesses de prêts et de permis de conduire subventionnés a été interpellé mercredi 8 juillet 2026, par la police républicaine à Porto-Novo.

La police met la main sur un individu recherché depuis près de quatre mois après une plainte déposée contre lui. Selon les premiers éléments de l'enquête, l'intéressé aurait approché plusieurs personnes en leur promettant l'obtention de prêts d'argent auprès d'une structure supposée spécialisée. Au total, 464 victimes, originaires notamment de Porto-Novo, Sèmè-Podji, Akpro-Missérété, Lalo et Glazoué, ont constitué des dossiers.

Une plaignante a déclaré avoir remis au suspect la somme de 4 977 400 FCFA en plusieurs tranches, destinée à faciliter l'accès aux prêts annoncés. Après avoir encaissé les fonds, il a disparu, laissant plusieurs victimes réclamer leurs droits.

Les investigations menées par les forces de l'ordre indiquent également que le mis en cause serait lié à une autre opération dénommée « Permis Vacances », au cours de laquelle des fonds auraient été collectés auprès de nombreuses personnes dans plusieurs départements du Bénin.

Les enquêtes se poursuivent afin d'identifier l'ensemble des victimes, d'évaluer le préjudice total et de situer les responsabilités dans cette affaire, informe la police républicaine.

Up until now Russia has officially referred to its war of aggression in Ukraine as a "special military operation". Anyone in Russia who spoke about a "war" in public faced punishment. Now, however, the Kremlin itself is increasingly using the term. "There is a war going on, this is a real war," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, explaining this by pointing out that Kyiv was now being backed by "Berlin, Paris, The Hague, Oslo, and, unfortunately, Washington".
