The European Union issued a statement reiterating its principled position against the death penalty in all cases and circumstances and expresses deep concern over Israel’s approval of the Death Penalty Bill as a grave regression from its de facto moratorium The EU urges Israel to abide by its previous position and its obligations under international law and democratic principles, noting that capital punishment violates the right to life, risks ill-treatment, has no proven deterrent effect, and renders judicial errors irreversible.

The members of the World Trade Organization (WTO) gathered for the past few days in the capital of Cameroon for their biennial ministerial conference. Before the 14th Ministerial Conference (MC14), sober pragmatism seemed possible. After four days of tense but fruitless negotiations in Yaoundé, sobering pragmatism carried the day. And both assessments still sit at the positive end of the evaluative spectrum.

A delegation of the Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET) will visit Seoul and Tokyo from 31 March to 2 April, led by Committee Chair David McAllister (EPP, Germany).
During the visit, MEPs will discuss how to further strengthen the EU's strategic cooperation with South Korea and Japan, two of its key like-minded partners in the Indo-Pacific region. Discussions will focus on issues of mutual interest against the backdrop of a rapidly shifting global landscape and challenges to the rules-based international order, shaped by evolving dynamics across the Indo-Pacific region, Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, and conflict in the Middle East.

Az új uniós jogszabály egyszerűsíti a fizetésképtelenségi eljárásokat, megkönnyítve a befektetők számára, hogy a befektetési lehetőségek mérlegelése során figyelembe vegyék a fizetésképtelenségi szabályokat.

A Tanács François-Louis Michaud-t nevezte ki az Európai Bankhatóság (EBH) elnökévé, aki 2026. április 16-án lép majd hivatalba. Hivatali ideje öt évre szól, és egy alkalommal meghosszabbítható.
